Pork Chops with Apples & Onions 〜with Rosé〜

Welcome to Kula Vineyards Food & Wine! We are so excited with having an opportunity to introduce our food recipes and the wines to go with them. Let's begin!

The first recipe we would like to introduce is Pork Chops with Apples & Onions. Caramelized onions with apples are so juicy and delicious, and my husband and I eat the whole dish quickly!
The wine that goes well with this dish is Rosé. Rosé is a highly demanded wine for both ladies and gentlemen these days. My favorite Rosé from one winery sold out in June. So, guess what. Kula Vineyards has decided to make Rosé from our Syrah grapes this year! Before I spend a whole page to talk about Rosé, let me introduce how we make Pork Chops with Apples & Onions.

Pork Chops with Apples & Onions

Ingredients:

2 pork chops
salt & pepper
1 Tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 Tablespoon butter
1 small onion, thinly sliced
1 cup apples, peeled & thinly sliced
1 teaspoon chopped garlic
1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
A few sprigs fresh thyme (1/2 teaspoon dried thyme for substitute)
1/2-1 cup chicken broth
Chopped parsley if desired

Directions:

1: Season both sides of the pork chops with salt & pepper. Heat extra-virgin olive oil in the cast iron pan (skillet) over high-midium heat. Add pork chops. Cook 6-8 minutes or until brown. Turn once. Transfer pork chops to a place. Keep warm.

2: Melt the butter in the pan. Put apple and onion slices in the same pan with garlic, ginger and thyme, and cook until they are soft and caramelized.

3: Pour 1/2 cup chicken broth in.

4: Return pork chops to the pan and cook until the pork gets tender. Pour more chicken broth if needed. Internal temperature of pork should be at least 145F.

5: Transfer pork chops to a serving dish with apple & onion topping. Sprinkle chopped parsley on top if desired.

I chopped summer veggies from our garden and mixed in extra-virgin olive oil with mini potatoes at the same time I was preparing for Pork Chops with Apples & Onions. I sprinkled Italian seasoning on top and oven-roasted them about 25-30 minutes in 400F. This was a good side dish.

Thank you so much for visiting Kula Vineyards Food & Wine. We hope you like the recipe as much as we do!
